Palak Paneer/ Cottage cheese in Spinach Gravy

I had my SIL giving me a surprise visit this weekend. It was a great weekend where we spent time only cooking and eating. I ended up making Palak Paneer with rotis. Hope you like this version of Palak Paneer.

1) Organic Baby Spinach - a bunch/ 1/2 box - chopped
2) 1 big Onion - chopped
3) 2 Big ripe Tomatoes - chopped
4) 2 cloves of garlic - chopped
5) 1/2 inch ginger - chopped
6) 500 gms panner/ cottage cheese
7) 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
8) 1/4 teaspoon kitchen king masala
9) 1/4 teaspoon sugar
10) salt to taste
11) oil
12) 2 green chillies - chopped

Heat oil in the pan and add chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies. Add onions and fry them. Add chopped spinach and tomatoes and saute them well. Add sugar in order to retain the green colour of spinach. Also add turmeric powder and kitchen king masala. Once all the raw smeel goes remove and cool it. Blend them by adding water if needed.

Cut the paneer in cubes and fry them in little oil so that they get the brown colour. Otherwise you can just cut them and soak in hot water so that they remain soft.

Heat the Pan and add the spinach puree to it. Add more water if needed. Add salt and let it cook for sometime. Add the paneer and let it asorb the gravy. Remove from the stove top and garnish with paneer shavings. Serve with rotis or Vegetable Rice.

  1. I tried it with fresh Palak we get in Meijer and with Baby Spinach, either ways, just amazing. But the greens in Meijer is phenomenal.

  2. I dont think we have Meijer here. I like greens in any way they are prep.
